SUMMARY:Suttons Bay Art Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Suttons Bay Art Festival takes place next to the beautiful Suttons Bay Marina Park on the first weekend of August. One hundred artists along with community groups\, a community library book sale\, food vendors and a children’s area make this the perfect place to spend an art-filled weekend at the beach. \nA committee of volunteers oversees the selection of visiting artists and the distribution of funds generated by the event. Thousands of dollars have been contributed to local arts-related education projects. These include music and dance performances\, artist in residence programs and scholarships for local art students. Routes of 18\, 38\, 56\, and 70 miles wind throughout beautiful Leelanau County on excellent paved roads passing by farms\, orchards\, vineyards\, dunes\, and through quaint villages. So come\, ride\, relax\, and enjoy all that this beautiful peninsula has to offer. \nRegardless of which effort you ride\, all routes finish at the waterfront in Suttons Bay where you can savor a picnic provided by the VI Grill. North Park in Suttons Bay has full restroom and hand-washing capabilities on site. Your picnic lunch will be located overlooking beautiful Suttons Bay on the waterfront with accompanying music. SUMMARY:Empire Hill Climb
DESCRIPTION:Car enthusiasts will be thrilled by this year’s running of the Empire Hill Climb. First run from 1964 to 1980\, the race is back to stay! \nDuring its original running some of the best cars of their time made their way up the hill such as Austin Healey’s\, Jaguar E-Type’s\, AMC Gremlin’s\, Formula Ford and V’s\, Triumph’s\, Corvette’s\, Porsche’s and even a Ferrari or two. This year cars will compete on the course which is about 3/4 mile long with 8 turns\, up Wilco Road. \nThe hillside offers fantastic spectating where spectators can sit nearly above the race cars. And Parc Expose will be in downtown Empire allowing spectators get up close and personal with the race cars before they make their way up the hill. \nSee Event Website for details.
