Join us for the 4th Annual Leelanau Maritime History Festival hosted by the Leelanau Historical Society — an engaging, family-friendly celebration of the region’s maritime history and its ties to the Great Lakes.

  • Free Museum Admission
    Includes access to permanent & rotating exhibits such as, Life on Lake Leelanau: Ripples Through TimeShipwrecks of the Manitou Passage, lighthouse and ship models, and more.
  • Community Partners & Demonstrations
    Local nonprofit organizations and cultural groups will showcase their knowledge and operations focused on preserving and sharing the maritime heritage of the Leelanau Peninsula.

This year also commemorates the 20th anniversary of the live exhibit “Wood Boats on the Wall.” Beginning at 10:00 AM, stroll the Leland River boardwalk behind the museum to admire a lineup of classic wooden boats—Chris-Craft, Century, Garwood, and other vintage watercraft—accompanied by their knowledgeable captains ready to answer your questions.
